Australian farming operations aren't 'easy' to manage whichever way you look at it, and the Baldock's 10,000 hectare cropping operation in South Australia's Eyre Peninsula is no different. Growing a rotation of wheat, barley, lentils and canola, capturing and using the data that comes with an operation of this size is front of mind for Lisa and Tristan who farm together with Tristan's parents Graeme and Heather.
I recently caught up with Lisa for a chat about how they're using Agworld in their operation, in combination with FarmReady's Cart and Shed apps, to help turn farm data into more profitable decisions.
Simplifying harvest inventory to get away from endless spreadsheets
Like many growers, Lisa had been using a huge spreadsheet to keep tabs on everything related to harvest inventory: deliveries, contracts, fields, you name it. “If anyone touched it or lost it, I would've just about strangled them,” she laughs. “It worked, but it was clunky and stressful.”
This all changed when they started using Cart. Lisa now records deliveries, manages contracts, and monitors storage, all in one place. At the end of each day during harvest she knows exactly what's in the silos, what's been delivered, and how much is ready to sell. “I can get a call about prices and decide on the spot: 'Yes, let's sell 250 tonnes, we're covered.' That's where Cart is making a huge difference.”
Making Chemical Inventory easy to manage
Shed has played a big role in the Baldock's operation too: Lisa and Tristan use it to track chemical inventory, costs, and compliance. “We used to spend days checking actuals and trying to match prices. Now with Shed it's all there, accurate, up to date, and easy to report on.” Lisa adds: “When we receive a delivery from our reseller, we book the stock into Shed, and as soon as our spray rig operator turns a recommendation from our agronomist into an actual in Agworld, the product is automatically deducted from the stock-on-hand; you can't get it much easier than that!”

It's not just about numbers either. Shed helps them stay audit-ready and safe. “If something happens, we've got the SDS info and inventory right there—no digging around.” But it's the big picture that's most important according to Lisa: “With both Cart and Shed feeding into Agworld, we can see the whole picture. It saves us time, money, and even arguments.”
Achieving better results with less manual effort
At Agworld, we're always working on creating technology that saves growers time and helps them make their job easier on a daily basis. For the Baldocks this means better benchmarking, smarter marketing, tighter inventory control, and being able to spend more time with the family instead of behind a computer in the evening.
As Lisa puts it, “It's not about fancy dashboards; it's about knowing where we're at so we can make decisions that count.” I don't think I can put it any better than that, and it's exactly the kind of success story we love to hear here at Agworld!
